The last phase of works of the project, Area 2B, is taking place along the Esplanade. It includes the addition of raised crossings at regular intervals along the Esplanade and at the junctions of Rugby Terrace, Panmure Street and Brook Street. These changes will make it easier and shorter for pedestrians to cross the road.

Following concerns raised, a letter was sent to local addresses to provide information on the programme of works. The text is reproduced below and attached on the right.

Dear Sir/Madam

Subject: Broughty Ferry – Monifieth Active Travel – Area 2B The Esplanade

Further to my earlier correspondence on the above, firstly thank you for your continued
patience and understanding whilst we carry out these works.
I am pleased to advise that the works are progressing well, with Phase 4 now complete and
access now available from Bridge Street to the car park at The Esplanade football pitch. Phase
3 is also progressing, and we plan to have this section open to traffic, from the east, by close
of play on Friday 18 July 2025.
We have noted concerns raised in relation to the programme of works, which largely was not
within our control, however we have now reviewed our programme with the contractor and
have agreed to temporarily suspend all works from close of play on Friday 18 July, works will
recommence on Monday 4 August 2025 @ 7:30hrs.
Initially on our return, access will be maintained, with some traffic restrictions at our points of
work. Road closures will however be required for carriageway planing, resurfacing drainage,
construction of table top crossings and installation of traffic speed cushions. Road closure
notices will be installed on site signage at the points of closure, a minimum of one week in
advance. The alternative routes will remain as Brook Street, A930 and Bridge Street.
Details of the designs are available on our website, www.broughtyferryactivetravel.com;
